TP-Link Kasa/Tapo Pro RTI Driver
Bring supported TP-Link Kasa and selected Tapo smart switches, dimmers, plugs, lighting and multi-outlet devices into your RTI smart home with fast local-LAN control, two-way feedback and installer-friendly Integration Designer discovery.
Professional Kasa and Tapo control from RTI
This driver is built for RTI dealers, custom integrators and homeowners who want TP-Link smart-home devices inside one RTI control experience. Instead of manually copying IP addresses into a separate setup utility, the installer can discover compatible devices from Integration Designer, map them to RTI sources and control them locally from the processor.
Integration Designer Discovery
Use Search for New Devices to scan the local network, identify compatible TP-Link hardware and populate mapping dropdowns.
Fast Local-LAN Control
Commands run on the local network for responsive home automation control. Modern KLAP and legacy Kasa communication paths are handled by the driver.
Two-Way Status
Use RTI feedback for power, online state, brightness, device identity, RSSI and supported energy/runtime information.
Natural RTI Dimming
Brightness behaves naturally: 0% turns Off; selecting 1–100% automatically powers the dimmer/light on and applies the requested level.
Dedicated Multi-Outlet Sources
Normal switches and dimmers keep a clean RTI programming tree. Multi-outlet commands only appear on dedicated power-strip sources.
XP Diagnostics
Dealer diagnostics expose driver health, processor MAC, licensing, mapped/online device counts, discovery state and support information.
Supported RTI control functions
Capabilities vary by TP-Link model, hardware revision and firmware. The driver classifies discovered devices and uses the features available on the mapped hardware.
Switches, plugs, dimmers and lighting
- Power On / Off / Toggle
- Brightness 0–100%
- Brightness Up / Down
- Color temperature where supported
- Hue / saturation / HSV where supported
- Power and online feedback
Diagnostics and advanced devices
- Dedicated multi-outlet source type
- Up to 6 independently controlled outlets per supported strip
- Energy/runtime feedback where available
- Model, firmware, hardware, MAC and RSSI
- Reconnect backoff and optimized polling
- Global All On / All Off controls
Simple RTI installation workflow
Add the driver
Add Kasa/Tapo Device sources in Integration Designer. Add Multi-Outlet sources only for compatible power strips.
Discover devices
Run Search for New Devices while your programming PC is on the same LAN as the TP-Link devices.
Map & download
Select each physical device from the mapping dropdown and download the RTI project to the XP processor.
Trial or license
Use the 6-hour evaluation period, then activate a perpetual license bound to the RTI processor MAC.
Built for multi-room smart homes
| Source type | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Normal Kasa/Tapo devices | Up to 16 |
| Multi-outlet devices | Up to 8 |
| Total physical devices | 24 |
| Potential controlled endpoints | Up to 64 |
6-hour automatic trial included
- One license per RTI processor MAC
- Supported mapped Kasa/Tapo devices on that processor are covered
- No Defender Solution recurring subscription
- Signed processor-bound activation key
Compatibility and testing
TP-Link changes device firmware and local protocols over time, so exact model testing matters. Defender Solution publishes capabilities conservatively rather than claiming that every Kasa or Tapo product is universally compatible.
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Integration Designer LAN discovery | Validated | Validated discovering multiple devices on a production-style LAN. |
| Kasa HS200-class switch | Validated | Local power control and feedback. |
| Kasa HS220-class dimmer | Validated | Dimming, auto-on and 0%=Off workflow. |
| Energy monitoring | Model dependent | Queried only on energy-capable devices. |
| RGB / tunable-white lighting | Beta | Functions implemented; validate exact model/firmware. |
| Broader Tapo range | Beta / model dependent | Validate exact model and firmware before deployment. |
Frequently asked questions
Is there an RTI driver for TP-Link Kasa and Tapo?
Yes. Defender Solution TP-Link Kasa/Tapo Pro integrates supported Kasa and selected Tapo smart devices with RTI Control and Integration Designer.
Does the Kasa RTI driver require cloud control?
The control path is designed around local-LAN communication. Some TP-Link authentication requirements can vary by model/firmware, but normal RTI commands are processed locally by the driver where supported.
Can I control Kasa dimmers from an RTI slider?
Yes. The driver uses a 0–100% brightness model. Moving above 0 automatically powers the device on; moving to 0 powers it off.
How many Kasa devices can one RTI processor control with this driver?
The current driver supports up to 24 physical devices: 16 normal sources and 8 multi-outlet sources, with up to 64 individually controlled endpoints in the maximum multi-outlet configuration.
How does licensing work?
A 6-hour trial is included. A perpetual license is generated for the RTI processor MAC address. The introductory price is $79 per processor.
Ready to add Kasa/Tapo to your RTI smart home?
Download the driver from the RTI Driver Store, test it on your installation and contact Defender Solution when you are ready to activate the processor.
Need thermostat control too?
Add Google Nest thermostat control to the same RTI smart-home platform with our Google Nest SDM Climate driver.
