The Defender Solution Nest Thermostat RTI Driver connects supported Nest thermostats to an RTI control system through Google's Smart Device Management API. It is designed for custom home automation projects where climate control belongs on the same RTI interface as lighting, AV, shades, security and other smart-home systems.

How Nest and RTI integration works
Prepare Google SDM
Configure the supported Google/Nest account and Smart Device Management authorization required by the driver.
Authorize access
Use the OAuth/token workflow to authorize access to the Nest devices associated with the account.
Map thermostats
Configure the thermostat devices in Integration Designer and assign each thermostat to the appropriate RTI climate zone/page.
Download & test
Download the project to the RTI processor, verify two-way feedback and test mode/setpoint commands before final commissioning.
Cloud/API-based climate integration
Unlike the Kasa/Tapo local-LAN driver, the Nest integration uses Google's Smart Device Management service. A working internet connection, supported Google/Nest account configuration and valid authorization are required for thermostat communication.
